Farmer organisations, which are not affiliated with the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM Non-Political) has also condemned the lobbing of teargas shells on protesting farmers.

The government has backtracked on its promise that if the farmers go to Delhi on foot, then they will not be stopped. Even the Supreme Court also observed that they had the right to peaceful protest.

Today’s act of the government clearly indicates that the government itself invites confrontation but not a peaceful resolution of the legitimate demands of the farmers.

The act of police is totally unconstitutional, he said. He demanded that the doors of negotiation be immediately opened with the agitating farmers and the genuine demands, such as legal status to MSP along with assured market, total debt waiver of farmers and agriculture workers, withdrawal of all cases registered against the farmers and justice to Lakhimpur Kheri farmers, be immediately met.
