Patiala, August 16

The protesting farm worker and rural labourers marched to the Cinema Road market in Nabha and staged a peaceful demonstration, holding a banner with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s photo.

They chose this location to highlight another example of official apathy and corruption— the broken road. It has been over a year but the road has also not been repaired yet.

Farm workers and labourers have been protesting outside the Nabha Block Development and Panchayat office since July 31, demanding action on their complaints against erring officials. They are seeking work under MGNREGA scheme, and claim that they face numerous challenges due to official apathy and corruption.

SDM Tarsem Chand requested a written complaint from the labourers, promising to seek a report from the BDPO. — TNS
