Lohri is a festival that strengthens ideas of brotherhood and fraternity and should be celebrated with gusto and enthusiasm, said Deputy Commissioner Dr Sona Thind while participating in the festivities at the District Administrative Complex here today.

Extending best wishes to the residents on Lohri, the DC prayed their continued progress and prosperity. She said the district administration will be celebrating “Dhiyan Di Lohri” on January 14 at Giani Dit Singh Auditorium of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College.

The festivities will also be attended by Dr Gurpreet Kaur, wife of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann. Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai and Punjab State Women’s Commission chairperson Raj Lali Gill will also attend the event as special guests.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Geetika Singh, SDM Manjit Singh Rajla, District Revenue Officer Karun Gupta, District Social Security Officer Varinder Singh Tiwana, District Public Relations Officer Raj Kumar, District Child Protection Officer Harbhajan Singh Mehmi, Tehsildar Fatehgarh Sahib Vishal Verma besides other officers and employees were present at the celebrations.

Similarly, Rotary Club Sirhind, led by its president Dr Hitender Suri and secretary Vineet Sharma celebrated the Lohri honoured families that have welcomed a girl child recently.

Members of the Market Committee Sirhind, staff members and students of SGGS World University and members of the District Bar Association also celebrated the festival.
