Fatehgarh Sahib Bar Assn protests against Chandigarh cops
Fatehgarh Sahib, February 19
The District Bar Association (DBA), Fatehgarh Sahib, today suspended work and protested against the Chandigarh Police for misbehaving with the president of the Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) Bar Association.
Addressing the media, DBA president AS Dharni said a lawyer of the Chandigarh Bar Association Malik got his leg fractured in a fight. He said when the HC Bar Association president went to talk with the Chandigarh Police, cops misbehaved with him and kept him waiting for five hours. He said such action of the UT police would not be tolerated.
He said common people cannot expect justice if the police treats lawyers in this manner. He said it was a violation of the rights of the common people. Former DBA president Rajveer Singh Grewal, Gagandeep Singh Virk, Vivek Sharma and other members of the association were present on the occasion.
