The Nabha police have arrested five persons for allegedly murdering a youth over buying cigarettes. The accused were known to the victim. The police said on Monday night, the accused engaged in an argument with Gurpreet Singh and his friend Jaspreet Singh over who would buy cigarettes first from a roadside vendor near Borha Gate in Nabha.

According to Gurpreet’s mother who filed a police complaint the accused allegedly attacked the duo with a knife. Gurpreet succumbed to his injuries at Government Rajindra Hospital on Tuesday morning, while his friend was under treatment.
