Four booked, drugs, liquor seized during Operation Seal in dist
As part of state-wide anti-drug drive, a Punjab Police team led by ADGP Ishwar Singh, carried out a search operation on National Highway 44 near Shambhu to curb inter-state drug trafficking.
The drive entitled “Operation Seal”, primarily aiming at curbing drug trafficking from neighbouring states by setting up interstate checkposts at 13 locations.
The police arrested four individuals, registered 4 FIRs, and seized 400 gm of opium, four kg poppy husk, 1,100 intoxicating capsules/tablets, and illicit liquor.
As part of the drive, a total of 437 vehicles were checked, resulting in 52 challans being issued.
The ADGP, during his inspection of the checkpoint near Pachi Dara at Shambhu, emphasised that all suspicious vehicles and individuals were being meticulously searched while ensuring minimal disruption to the public.
He highlighted those police personnel had been strictly instructed to maintain courteous and respectful conduct during the checks.
SSP Dr Nanak Singh further revealed that 13 interstate checkpoints were strategically set up along routes connecting Patiala with Haryana.
The key checkposts included locations at GT Road near Pachi Dara, T-Point Jameetgarh Ghanour Ambala Road, Sarala Head T-Point Balbera Cheeka Road, Pur Mandi Ghaggar Bridge Sanour-Naniula Road, Rohar Jagir Julka Pehowa Road, Masingan Naniula Road, Dharmeri Bridge Nava Gaon Cheeka Road, Ghaggar Bridge Badshahpur Kaithal Road, Ghaggar Bridge Harchandpura, Ghaggar Bridge Arnetu Badshahpur-Kaithal Road, Rasouli Canal Bridge-Kharka Road, and Dhabi Gujran Patran Narwana Road.
