A 2004-batch senior IAS officer, Chander Gaind, today assumed charge as Divisional Commissioner, Patiala.
He was earlier serving as Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, Punjab. He said he would accord top priority to provide transparent and efficient administration to people.
He was welcomed at the District Administrative Complex with a guard of honour by a contingent of the police.
He directed all officers to implement the policies and programmes of the government in a coordinated manner. He said his priority would be to give timely justice to all people, who came to seek justice without any delay. He said development programmes would be expedited and the quality of work would be closely monitored.
He also appealed to people to wear masks, take precautions and maintain social distancing.
