Deputy Commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav has emphasized strict enforcement of the Safe School Vahan Policy, asserting that children’s safety cannot be compromised. Chairing a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee today, she directed all SDMs to ensure safe and accident-free roads in their respective sub-divisions for smooth traffic flow.

Dr Preeti Yadav instructed the Traffic Police and Public Works Department to eliminate black spots—hazardous locations prone to accidents—on roads through coordinated efforts. She also ordered the Municipal Corporation and traffic police to remove all traffic obstructions, particularly in high-congestion areas, ensuring there are no jams outside hospitals and schools.

Departments responsible for road maintenance, including PWD, Mandi Board, Municipal Corporation and Panchayati Raj institutions, were directed to remove encroachments, flex banners outside shops and other places on the roads along with other obstacles immediately. She warned that any accident resulting from departmental negligence would make the agency concerned accountable.

The DC also instructed traffic police to take strict action against vehicles using unauthorised flashers, black film windows and hooters. Stressing compliance with the Safe School Vahan Policy, she reiterated that school buses and other student transport vehicles must not exceed 15 years of age and must meet the necessary safety standards.

During the meeting, compensation under the Hit and Run Motor Accident Scheme-2022 was approved. Reviewing the Integrated Road Accident Database (IRAD), Dr Preeti Yadav directed the Police, Health, PWD, Mandi Board and NHAI to submit the complete data related to road accidents. She also urged officials to identify and honour citizens assisting in road safety efforts under the Good Samaritan Policy.
