India's first Patient Facilitation Centre to come up at Rajindra Hospital: Minister
Punjab is set to become the first state in India to introduce a “Patient Facilitation Centre” at Government Rajindra Hospital, with the facility slated to open in May. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh claimed this in an announcement during a review of the ongoing construction work at the hospital.
Dr Balbir Singh highlighted that the centre would offer comprehensive support to patients and their families, including access to the state’s Rs 10 lakh health insurance scheme, which benefits 30 million residents and 6.5 million families.
Located near the emergency ward, the centre would have trained staff to guide patients to relevant departments, thereby help in reducing congestion at the hospital. Amenities such as air-conditioned waiting areas, clean restrooms, drinking water, a canteen and access to medicines would also be available at the centre.
Being developed by Kings XI Punjab, this pilot project aims to enhance healthcare delivery in the state. Similar centres would be established in district hospitals, medical colleges and sub-divisional hospitals across Punjab. Operating 24/7, the facility would ensure quality healthcare and more convenience for the public.
