International documentary on Guru Nanak Dev premiered

The first premier of an international documentary on “Guru Nanak-The Founder of Sikhism: Life and Legacy” was organised at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib today.

Dr Rajwant Singh from Washington DC, founder and chairman of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education was the chief guest, whereas Dr Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the university presided over and inaugurated the event.

Dr Rajwant Singh said the documentary was being shown in different parts of the country under the banner of ‘Young Progressive Sikh Forum (YPSF)’ to celebrate the 550th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev. He said the documentary celebrates, internationally, Sri Guru Nanak Dev as the founder of Sikhism which is the world’s 5th largest religion. He further added that the film had won the best director’s award at the Awareness Film Festival in Los Angeles and was being shown nation-wide by YPSF.

Dr PritPal Singh, Vice-Chancellor said it was a matter of great pride for the University to have organised the first premier of such a monumental documentary. He added that the film had vividly described the teachings, life and legacy of Guru Nanak Sahib and will be source of inspiration for all. He said this documentary will also help in resolving the identity crisis that the Sikhs are facing globally.
