Khedan Watan Punjab Dian: Dist-level events get underway
The district-level competitions under ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Dian’ commenced at Raja Bhalindra Singh Sports Complex, Polo Ground.
District Planning Committee Chairman Jasvir Singh Jassi Sohiyanwala praised the initiative for sparking new energy among the youth. He highlighted that the jobs and cash rewards given by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to international athletes had motivated emerging sports talents in the state. Improvement Trust Chairman Megh Chand Shermajra emphasised that the event had played a crucial role in developing a robust sports culture in Punjab, adding that the future will see many of these athletes shine on international platforms.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kanchan encouraged residents to watch the games.
District Sports Officer Harpinder Singh said following the successful completion of block-level competitions under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav, the district-level games have officially commenced. These competitions will take place across various sports grounds here till September 30. He added that more than 1,200 athletes were expected to participate in 25 events.
