Punjab State Women’s Commission chairperson Raj Lali Gill today presides over a Lok Adalat (public court) being organises to exclusively addressed issues faced by women.
Speaking at the Lok Adalat, which was organised at the Police Lines to address grievances and ensure justice, the chairperson heard 35 cases, directing police investigation officers to re-examine several of them.
Additionally, she also reviewed some new cases.
Gill revealed that since assuming office in March 2024, nearly 2,500 cases have been brought before the Commission, of which about 70% have been resolved.
She further mentioned that today, cases related to marital disputes, property conflicts, Non-Resident Indian (NRI) marriages, dowry harassment, exploitation of women and girls, live-in relationships, and domestic violence were presented before her.
The chairperson also expressed concern over the rising tensions and conflicts within families due to a lack of patience and tolerance, attributing this to the increasing number of disputes. She also highlighted the growing number of elderly individuals in old-age homes as a worrying social trend.
