Patiala, June 1

The police have arrested one of the main accused involved in a murder of sarpanch Shamsher Singh (38), who was associated with the Congress, from Rajasthan today.

The victim, a resident of Sukh Ram Colony, had gone to purchase eatables in Bharat Nagar when around 15-20 persons attacked the victim with iron rods and sharp weapons. Out of three bullets fired to scare Shamsher, one pierced his body. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

The accused are SK Kharoud, Sajan, Tara Dutt, Abbu, Laali, Chand Mohammed, Phool Mohammed, Twinkle, Prince Chakki, Pawan, Vicky Toppi, Jitender Shergill, Parmod Modi and a few unknown persons. — TNS
