‘Mela Melnan Da’ organised by Punjabi University hostel

Bibi Sahib Kaur Hostel of Punjabi University organised a cultural event titled “Mela Melnan Da”. The event was dedicated to Punjabi culture and traditions. Students of the hostel participated with enthusiasm in the event, presenting a vibrant array of performances including Giddha, Natti, and Punjabi skits.

The attendees graced the occasion dressed in traditional ethnic attire.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Jagdeep Singh, presiding over the event, said such programmes played a vital role in connecting students with their rich heritage roots.

Praising students’ performances, he said, “In the current era, where the influence of Western culture is increasing, preserving our language, attire, and folk dances is the primary need of the hour.”
