Missing youth’s body recovered from canal

Fatehgarh Sahib, September 2

The body of a youth who was missing since August 30 was recovered from the Bhakra Canal near Ganda Khedi. The deceased was identified as Satish Kumar (25), resident of Naya Gaon in Mohali district. In the statement given to the police, Hari Shankar, the father of the deceased, said on August 30 his son had gone to Patiala on a bike with his friend Suresh Kumar for some work and on their way back they had stopped on the bank of the canal near Buchre village to eat something. He said that after they were done eating Satish tried to wash his hands in the canal but his foot slipped and he fell into it. He said with the help of divers, his body was found in the canal today.

ASI Jasmer Singh said the police handed over the body to the family after a post-mortem at the civil hospital today.
