Patiala, July 4

The district today reported its first dengue case of the season. The first victim of the vector-borne disease is a 23-year-old girl from Duladhi village in Nabha block of the district. The girl was suffering from fever for the past seven days before she got tested for dengue. Officials of the Patiala Health Department said that the girl was recovering very well. As a precautionary measure, health workers sprayed indoor residue spray at the victim’s house. No dengue larvae were found at the victim’s house.

Dr Sumeet Singh, District Epidemiologist, said dengue cases would likely to rise in the coming days, therefore, residents should take precautions. He appealed people to drain out stagnant water in their households once a week.
