Over 8.88 lakh voters to cast vote in dist rural poll

Elections for the 23 zones of the zila parishad and 184 zones of the 10 block samitis in the district will be held on December 14.

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Preeti Yadav has stated that a total of 8.88,610 voters have been registered, of whom 4. 67 lakh are men, 4.2 lakh women and 14 are third gender voters.

Additional District Election Officer-cum-ADC (Rural Development) Damanjit Singh Mann said 988 gram panchayats had been divided into 23 zones of zila parishad and 184 zones of block samitis.

The following is the detail of these zones:

Patiala Block Samiti: Three zila parishad zones, 16 block samiti zones, including 83 gram panchayats and 101 polling booths, with a total of 77,797 voters (40,684 men, 37,113 women).

Patiala Rural Block Samiti: Two zila parishad zones and 15 block samiti zones, including 60 gram panchayats and 98 polling booths, with a total of 75,570 voters (39,303 men, 36,365 women, and two third gender voters).

Sanour Block Samiti: 19 block samiti zones and two zila parishad zones, including 100 gram panchayats, 132 polling booths and 96,301 voters (50,612 men, 45,687 women, and two third gender voters).

Bhunerheri Block Samiti: 19 block samiti zones and two zila parishad zones, including 144 gram panchayats and 132 booths with 88,170 (46,364 men, 41,804 women, and two third gender voters).

Rajpura Block: 15 block samiti zones and one zila parishad zone, including 61 gram panchayats and 83 polling booths, with 46,336 voters (24,681 men, 21,654 women and one third gender voter).

Ghanaur Block Samiti: Two zila parishad zones and 16 block samiti zones, including 85 gram panchayats and 129 booths, with 72,663 voters (39,052 men, 33,611 women).

Shambhu Kalan Block: Three zila parishad zones, 19 block samiti zones, including 90 gram panchayats and 139 booths, with 83,065 voters (44,818 men and 38,247 women).

Samana Block: 15 block samiti zones and one zila parishad zone, including 76 gram panchayats and 103 booths, with 68,528 voters (35,748 men and 32,780 women).

Nabha Block Samiti: Three zila parishad zones and 25 block samiti zones, including 141 gram panchayats and 175 polling booths, with 1, 26, 611 voters (66,537 men, 60,067 women and seven third gender voters).

Patran Block Samiti: Four zila parishad zones and 25 block samiti zones, including 148 gram panchayats and 219 booths, with 1, 53, 569 voters (79,975 men and 73,594 women).
