A meeting was organised to discuss the status of various flagship schemes related to water supply and sanitation in the district, including the Jal Jeevan Mission and the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Deputy Commissioner Showkat Ahmad Parray presided over the meeting. In the meeting, discussions were held to check the supply of clean drinking water to villages under the Jal Jeevan Mission. The commissioner said all programmes related to water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission in the district were being implemented successfully, adding that water supply connections have been made available in all schools in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that, in addition to this, with the assistance of the World Bank, surface water supply projects have been initiated in 392 villages, adding that projects worth nearly Rs 300 crore are underway to provide clean water to 204 villages in the Rajpura subdivision and 112 villages in the Ghanaur subdivision. The DC said these projects are based on surface water, adding that they are in the final stages.

During the meeting, discussions were held about providing clean drinking water through piped connections to households, recharging groundwater, and managing wastewater treatment, among other topics. A budget of Rs 2,649.72 lakh has been allocated for the implementation of 151 schemes in the district under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
