Patiala, November 30
Deaths continue to rise in Patiala district in what seems to be the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. In November itself, 51 people succumbed to the disease.
Meanwhile, the deadly virus claimed three more lives, which included a 31-year-old youth, thereby taking the toll to 429 in the district. The Health Department said 31-years-old was suffering from TB and undergoing treatment at Government Rajindra Hospital. The second Covid death was of 55-year-old Rajpura resident, who was reportedly suffering from a kidney ailment.
However, the third victim of the virus was a 45-year-old woman of Partap Nagar, who had no comorbidity.
The Patiala Civil Surgeon, Dr Harish Malhotra, said, “There are multiple factors for rising deaths in the district. Comorbid condition is a major factor. Moreover, late reporting by the people at healthcare facilities has lowered the survival rate.”
