Patiala gears up for celebrations with Heritage Fest, Saras Mela
The city is set to host back-to-back celebrations with the Heritage Festival from February 13 to 16 and the Saras Mela from February 14 to 23, providing a chance to put the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage on a showcase. The events are being tipped to give a fillip to tourism in the city.
The Saras Mela will be held at Sheesh Mahal from February 14 to 23, offering a platform for artisans and craftsmen to showcase their traditional arts, crafts, and local products.
Meanwhile, the Heritage Festival, scheduled from February 13 to 16, will feature a variety of cultural and recreational activities. Visitors can enjoy a Nature Walk, Food Festival, and Flower Show, along with a Guava Fair that highlights the region’s agricultural richness. The festival will also host theatrical performances, a Heritage Walk, a Sufi Night, and Adventure Sports, providing a unique blend of entertainment and cultural immersion.
Besides, a Military Literature Festival, an Artillery Display, a Dog Show, and a grand Cultural Night, will also be hosted at the latter event.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Preeti Yadav held a meeting with all nodal officers to review the ongoing preparations and ensure that every aspect of the festivals is planned meticulously. She emphasised that careful and strategic planning was necessary for the smooth execution of the events, ensuring that all arrangements are completed in a timely manner.
