Patiala, April 13
Over 400 women participated in a 5-km mini-marathon under the Municipal Corporation’s Clean Patiala Green Patiala project to spread the message of cleanliness in the city today. The run was flagged off by Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu and Commissioner Keshav Hingonia.
Neha Rani bagged the first prize, Puja Rani second and Diksha third prize in the competition organised by the MC.
Officials of the Municipal Corporation said they had started an initiative from April 6 to spread awareness about cleanliness among city residents. It will continue till April 14. “We have planted saplings, held drama, painting and poem competitions as part of the initiative. The mini marathon organised on Wednesday was also part of the same”, they said.
Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu said the Municipal Corporation had initiated efforts to spread the message of cleanliness in the city. “We have installed six MRF centres, 416 compost pits, six compactors, 42 bathrooms, 106 semi-underground bins and remediation plant in the city.
