Patiala SSP Varun Sharma on Wednesday announced significant achievements under Operation Prahar 2.0, a district-wide crackdown on gangsters, shooters and organised criminal networks.

The campaign, titled “Gangstran Te Vaar,” has involved round-the-clock visible policing and coordinated raids across Patiala.

Providing details of the operation, the SSP stated that on Day 1 (February 9, 2026), district police arrested 51 accused, including 5 proclaimed offenders (POs) and recovered 2 weapons. “All arrested individuals are wanted in serious offences such as murder, attempt to murder and dacoity,” he said.

On Day 2 (February 10, 2026), police arrested 52 accused, including 5 POs, with recoveries, including four daggers, 40 grams of opium, and 1,100 intoxicant pills. “All the accused are involved in heinous crimes and were actively evading arrest,” the SSP added.

In another case, another accused, Happy Singh, resident of Tibba Road, Ludhiana, was arrested for his forward linkage in the recovery of one kg heroin in an FIR filed at police station Shambu. He was also a proclaimed offender in another FIR filed at police station Tibba, Ludhiana.
