Patiala, October 22

To check accidents and promote road safety measures, Patiala SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal today approved a report — ‘Road safety analysis and identification of accident black spots’ — prepared under Punjab Vision Zero Accident Project for the district .

Divulging details, the SSP said it was an initiative under Mission Tandrust of Punjab Police with road safety experts. Officer present during the release of the report were SP (Traffic) Palwinder Singh Cheema; Navdeep Asija, Traffic Advisor, Punjab; Arbab Ahmad, Project Manager, Punjab Road Safety Project, and Swinderjeet Brar, Road Safety Engineer, Patiala.

The report was prepared to identify all black spots in the district. The effort was to bring down the road fatalities in the district and promote road safety. A total of 55 black spots were identified in the district. Nearly 1,020 persons lost their lives and 654 were seriously injured in the district in the past three years due to road mishaps. — TNS
