A 20-year-old student of the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala, has bagged a number of internship offers for research from various universities, including those in Lithuania, China and South Korea.

Currently in his second year of engineering, Abhishek Agrahari, who hails from Delhi, has been offered internship from Beijing Computational Science Research Centre, China, the IIT-Kharagpur, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, Gyeongsang National University, South Korea, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and Lithuanian Energy Institute among others.

The boy has already worked on a research project with the DRDO for a month.

He said: “My father’s income is Rs12,000 per month and my mother is a homemaker. I was given a scholar loan of Rs20 lakh by the MHRD for an engineering course at the Thapar institute.” He said he was keen on joining a project at the Princeton University.

“I have received multiple invitations from global universities to work with them as a visiting fellow. If not for the Covid-19 pandemic, I would have been able to work on various projects already, including the one at Pennsylvania State University,” he added. — TNS
