Plays staged to raise awareness against drug menace in city

The National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS) in association with Col Karminder Singh, head of the Society for Welfare of the Handicapped, organised the seventh de-addiction Natak Mela of "Yudh Nashian Viruth" awareness theatre campaign at Dr Khushdeva Singh Kusht Ashram.

The chief guest, social worker Vinod Kumar along with campaign director Padamshri Pran Sabharwal and artistes inaugurated the event. They dedicated the performance to filmmaker Manoj Kumar, also known as Bharat Kumar and also a young film and stage actress Veer Samra, a passout of Punjabi University's Theatre and television department.

Plays "Yudh Nashian Virudh" by Sunita Sabharwal, Ajmer Aulakh's "Availsay Yuddan Di Naika", "Sukki Kukh", Harcharan Singh's "Kirat Da Satkar" and musicals opened to good response.
