Patiala, September 26
An assistant professor and research scholar of Punjabi University, Patiala, have prepared an application for deaf persons, which can be accessed in three languages — English Punjabi and Hindi. The application has been released in the wake of the International Day of Sign Languages.
Dr Williamjeet Singh from Computer Science and Engineering Department and scholar Amandeep Singh said World of Indian Sign Language (WISL) app provides an interface where a user can choose among the three languages and then link with the sign language.
Dr Williamjeet said the application would help to teach and learn elementary concepts in an easy and innovative way. “It delivers a two-way solution—learn basic signs and test the gained knowledge through multiple games. Five gaming modules with exclusive functionalities make the app more attractive,” he said and added that the app would benefit people in communicating with deaf persons effectively.
