The Communist Party of India (CPI) today asked the Centre to enact Bhagat Singh National Employment Guarantee Law to provide permanent employment to youth and regularise services of temporary, outsourced and contractual employees.

During its zonal rally, held outside the Sangrur District Administrative Complex, the party sought minimum support price (MSP) for all crops, entire debt waiver of farmers and Rs 10,000 per month pension to farmers and labourers above the age of 60 years.

The CPI leaders flayed the PM-Modi led NDA government for its “anti-farmer” and “anti-labourer” policies. They also supported the farmers’ agitation and their demands, including legal guarantee to the MSP.

They criticised PM Modi for his “pro-corporate” policies and urged the Centre to check unemployment in the country.

They said issues related to Punjab and farmers should be resolved at the earliest by the Centre.

The CPI leaders added that the party would organise five rallies across Punjab to create awareness among the people. They asked the Punjab Government to release dearness allowance (DA) of employees and pensioners of the state government, besides revival of the old pension scheme.

Dr Bhaal Chander Kago, Dr Garish Chander Sharma, Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, Kashmir Singh, Kulwant Singh Molviwal and Sukhdev Sharma among others were present on the occasion.
