Punjab schools among best institutions in country: Minister
Dr Balbir Singh attends parents' workshops in Patiala schools
Under the state government’s initiative, special “Parents’ Workshops” were held at Government Senior Secondary School, Tripuri, and Government Senior Secondary School (Multipurpose), Patiala. Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh, who was chief guest on the occasion, said the real transformation in the field of education was possible only when the government, parents and teachers worked together.
He stated that the Punjab Government was fully committed to taking education sector forward with new initiatives and by setting new standards. He said under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the leadership of Education Minister Harjot Bains, government schools had become the best schools in the country.
Dr Balbir Singh made a fervent appeal to the parents to create a conducive and positive environment at home for the students’ exam preparation and to work jointly with teachers.
He said “Parents’ support, children’s development” was not just a slogan, but the foundation of societal development. On the occasion, he also launched the ‘Admission Campaign-2026’ and encouraged parents to enroll their children in government schools in maximum numbers.
Later, the Health Minister reviewed a registration camp set up at Tripuri, Patiala, under the “Chief Minister Health Scheme – Free Treatment for Every Family”. He inspected the card-making process at the camp and instructed officials to speed up the process so that the benefits of the scheme reach every eligible family.
Dr Balbir Singh said the main objective of the Mann Government was to ensure free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh for every family, so that no citizen was deprived of treatment due to lack of money. He said that government initiatives in both education and health sectors will take Punjab forward on the path of progress.
District Education Officer Sanjeev Sharma, Government Senior Secondary School, Tripuri, principal Sandeep Kumar, senior lecturers, staff members, students and parents were also present on the occasion.
