Guest faculty working at the constituent colleges of Punjabi University on Tuesday held a protest outside the VC’s office demanding release of their stipends. Over 140 guest teachers of 14 colleges are awaiting payments for their services since a year, they said.
The guest teachers said they have not been paid for the past one year and some of us have not been paid since 2018.
They also demanded that the university should hire them as per the process applicable for guest teachers in government colleges.
A guest teacher said, “Guest faculty in government colleges are recruited for one year. The university should also hire us on the same pattern”
Dr Gurdas Singh, from University College, Moonak, said, “Our bills for payments for services are not being released. The Syndicate has already passed increment of our salaries but the same has not been implemented yet.”
