Punjabi University marks Mohammad Rafi’s birth centenary

At the ongoing film festival at Punjabi University, the Department of Music organised a special session dedicated to playback singer, the late Rafi, at Kala Bhavan.

Notably, this three-day Environment and Cinema Festival was organised by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology in collaboration with the university's Department of Theatre and Film Production, featuring various activities.

Harjeet Singh, head of the Department of Theatre and Film Production, and Amaninder Singh, Director of the associated organisation Parda Welfare Society, shared that 2024 marked the birth centenary of Mohammad Rafi, adding that the special session was dedicated to him.

Nivedita Singh from the Department of Music, who coordinated and conducted the programme, provided an engaging insight into Rafi's early life and struggles, educating the audience and students.

Film actor and writer Rana Ranbir, the chief guest, as well as the audience were treated to performances of Mohammad Rafi’s songs and got a chance to pay tributes to the legendary singer.
