Punjabi University students stage protest

Around 3,000 students of Engineering Department, Punjabi University, started a protest today over non- functional placement cell on the campus. The protesting students refused to appear for their mid-term tests schedule for today.

The miffed students of electrical, mechanical, civil and computer engineering said there was no placement cell in the university. They also complained about the dilapidated condition of the department building.

As the protesting students refused to end the strike till their demands were met, the PU authorities postponed the tests till further orders.

The university authorities are tight-lipped over the issue. Director Communication Sarabjit Singh said the matter was being looked into.
