Work at Punjabi University was affected after employees held a protest on the campus. Class-A employees of university administrative branches held a protest demanding pending promotions and increment of salaries.

Dr Dalvir Singh, president, Class-A Officers’ Association said, “We held a protest over our long-pending demands. Tomorrow we will protest throughout the university campus. All non-teaching officials of the campus will protest for demands.” “Teaching officials of the university can contest elections as the university is autonomous. We also want the university to allow us same rights,” he added.

Meanwhile, the university today allowed inclusion of varsity schoolteachers and non-teaching employees as per their grade pay.
