Six held in major drug bust in Fatehgarh Sahib
The police have busted an inter-state cartel supplying drugs in Punjab from Uttar Pradesh via Haryana with the arrest of six persons. The team has also recovered, in a big haul, 2.57 lakh tablets, capsules, 21,364 injections and 738 vials containing banned medicines. Besides, three cars, motorcycle and scooters have been impounded.
Sharing details, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ravjot Grewal said the arrest of a peddler led to the major break. During interrogation, the police were able to extract information to reach the manufacturer within 10 days and after conducting raids in Haryana, UP and Punjab made the arrests and recoveries.
Those accused have been identified as Parvinder Singh, resident of Cholta Khurd, Mohali, Sahil of Yamunanagar, Pankaj Chaudhary alias Virat and Shubham, residents of Saharanpur, Shahid and Wasim residents of Meerut.
Addressing the media, Grewal said during the special campaign launched by the police, the CIA Sirhind team arrested one Parwinder Singh and recovered a large quantity of drug injections/vials and tablets. During the investigation, it was found that he was a drug addict and supplier and brought drugs from Sahil, a resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana, to supply in Fatehgarh Sahib and Mohali.
That police formed an SIT led by SP (Investigation) Rakesh Yadavand the nexus was uncovered.
“By using technical and digital assistance and after analysing the backward/forward linkages of the accused one drug trafficker after another was traced and arrested, leading to a significant drug bust that dismantled an interstate drug supply network operating from Uttar Pradesh to Punjab via Haryana,” the SSP said, adding that further investigation in the case is underway.
