The Law Department at Desh Bhagat University Mandi Gobindgarh organised a seminar on the topic ‘Social Media under Article 21: Impact on Human Behaviour and Society’. The session aimed to explore the multifaceted influence of social media on individuals and society as a whole.

Dr Arti and Dr Prabhjot Kaur Ghuman provided insights and guidance to the students. The speakers, divided into two groups, engaged in an exchange of ideas, presenting contrasting perspectives on the role of social media.

The first group articulated the positive aspects of social media, highlighting its role in fostering open-mindedness, facilitating knowledge expansion, aiding job search efforts, promoting digital marketing, enhancing access to information, and fostering social connectivity and communication.

While the second group articulated concerns regarding the negative repercussions of social media, citing its potential to propagate false information, encourage self-obsession, serve as a conduit for spreading fake news, promote gossip and trolling, and foster addiction among users. The speakers talked about diverse viewpoints and discourse, critically analysing contemporary issues.
