The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by 36 participants from 12 schools across Patiala district, reflecting deep interest and reverence for India’s rich spiritual heritage.
An inter-school cultural and spiritual competition titled “Sanskriti Saar” was organised at Auro Mirra Centre of Education, managed by Sri Aurobindo Society (HO Puducherry), here today. The objective of the competition was nurturing cultural awareness, moral values, spiritual understanding and confident expression among students.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by 36 participants from 12 schools across Patiala district, reflecting deep interest and reverence for India’s rich spiritual heritage.
Mukta Mandhar, Vice Chairperson, Sri Aurobindo Society, Patiala, and management members, chaired the occasion along with school Principal Chinmayie. The competition was conceptualised to encourage students to engage meaningfully with India’s revered scriptures through recitation and interpretation.
Participants competed in three categories: Shrimad Bhagavad Gita (Shloka recitation and Arth-vyakhya), Shri Ramcharit Manas (Chaupai recitation and Arth-vyakhya) and Shri Guru Granth Sahib (Shabad recitation). Students displayed clarity of pronunciation, depth of understanding and confidence while presenting verses and interpretations.
Winners in each category were awarded prizes. A best team award was also presented. The organisers said the core importance of such competitions lies in their role in shaping the inner life of students. In an age marked by distractions, stress and performance pressure, engagement with timeless scriptures helps students cultivate clarity of thought, emotional balance, self-discipline and ethical grounding, they said.
“Such competitions remain relevant in today’s world as these help students stay rooted in values, develop inner awareness and build confident expression among young learners across schools today,” the organisers said.
