The Tribune Impact: Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib MC okays works worth Rs 1.04 cr
The Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib Municipal Council has approved development works worth Rs 1.04 crore and the process of issuing work orders is in progress. The council has invited tenders for the development works in the city as per its financial budget. This was stated by Executive Officer Sangeet Ahluwalia.
A day after Chandigarh Tribune highlighted the lack of basic civic amenities in Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib in these columns, officials swung into action and approved the tenders worth Rs 1.04 crore.
Ahluwalia said the council had floated a tender of Rs 85 lakh for LED street light project in the city. Under the project, streetlights in the city will be replaced with LED.
He said the council had paid Rs 367 lakh to the Water Supply and Sewerage Board to ensure proper water supply and sewerage facilities to city residents within its limits. The Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib Municipal Council was committed to providing basic facilities to the residents. Special attention was being paid to development works and cleanliness.
He said MC’s garbage collection vehicles could not enter some narrow streets in front of Naina Devi Temple in Sirhind city. As a result, residents dump garbage at a particular place which was collected twice a day by the Municipal Council. After cleaning the area, a garbage container had also been installed here.
He said preparations for Shaheedi Jor Mela were in full swing. The council had also deployed its employees and sanitation workers to clean main roads, gates, drains and canals of the entire area in Fatehgarh Sahib so that devotees do not face any kind of problem. Fogging was also being done in the city to prevent the spread of dengue and malaria.
