Patiala, December 11

A three-day spiritual festival began at the Polo Ground here to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

A digital museum, which offers an audio-visual peek into the life and philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev, was inaugurated by Mayor Sanjiv Sharma Bittu today.

The mayor was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit, Patiala SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu, and ADC Shawkat Ahmad Parry. Lauding the efforts of the state government, Sharma said the muesum would help the younger generation connect with teachings of the tenth guru. He said, “It is a great initiative by the government as it will make people, especially schoolchildren, learn more about the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner said that the museum was the amalgamation of various technologies such as large format display (LFD) screens, radio frequency identified devices (RFID) headphones, immersive sublimation and a virtual reality (VR) experience. Manpreet Sigh, a Class XI student of Government Civil Lines, said, “It’s a lifetime experience as I was not aware about many things about Guru Nanak Dev that I came to know only after I visited the museum.”

The Deputy Commissioner said a light and sound show would be organised on December 12 and 13.
