While interacting with residents in various villages, he stated that under the state-wide War on Drugs campaign 3,100 sports stadiums are being built across Punjab, of which 41 have been allocated to Lehra in the first phase. He added that foundation stones were laid for 15 stadiums today in the following villages: Govindpura Jawaharwala, Kotla Lahil, Alampur, Bakhora Kalan, Chotian, Kalia, Chural Kalan, Chural Khurd, Karhail, Hamirgarh, Bagga Kalan, Bushehra, Dudian, Bathuan, and Badalgarh.

He informed that the construction of these 15 stadiums will cost Rs 5.70 crore and will be completed soon. The stadiums will feature athletic tracks, basketball and volleyball courts, high-quality turf, sprinklers, restrooms, lighting, benches, and will be beautified with flower plants.

These facilities will attract youth and people of all ages. He emphasised that the grounds are being built within villages for easy access, as distant stadiums often go underutilised. He urged residents to make full use of these facilities, stressing that a healthy lifestyle is as essential as education. Connecting today’s children with sports is the need of the hour.
