In a significant step towards empowering the youth, the World Skill Centre of Excellence in front of the Municipal Corporation office, under the aegis of Sun Foundation, was inaugurated by Aman Arora, Cabinet Punjab, along with Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Speaker, Punjab Assembly, Dr Balbir Singh, Health Minister, Dharamvira Gandhi, MP, Patiala, and Ajit Pal Kohli, MLA Patiala.

Sun Foundation chairman and MP Dr Sahney said the state-of-the-art skill centre would provide free-of-cost training to over 1,000 youth annually, ensuring job placements. The centre offers cutting-edge courses.

Dr Sahney said the vision was to provide training to 10,000 youth annually through various centres and adopted ITIs across Punjab. “By providing modern skilling on cutting-edge machinery, we are bridging the gap between education and employment,” said Sahney. He stressed on the importance of robust industrial connections to facilitate seamless job placements, while stating, “The centre will not only impart knowledge, but also ensure that students secure jobs.”
