Punjab Youth Congress president and Patiala Rural Assembly in-charge Mohit Mohindra today launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government over the alarming deterioration of law and order in Punjab, stating that the people of the state are no longer asking for prosperity — they are asking to stay alive.

Addressing party workers after a road show by senior Congress leaders, Mohindra said, “Forget prosperity, our only ask today is to be alive. Look at the total collapse of law and order in Punjab. How will investments ever come to a region which fails to protect its own citizens? A safe environment is the most basic duty of a government in a welfare state. The AAP government has failed miserably in its first and foremost responsibility.”

He further highlighted that frequent and arbitrary transfers of police officers over the last four years have severely damaged the administrative stability of the state.

“In the last four years, police officers have been shuttled and shuffled innumerable times. This constant shuffling is one of the main reasons for instability and the rise in crime. Before officers even settle into their roles and understand the ground realities, transfer orders are issued. This not only disrupts governance but also demoralises the force,” Mohindra stated. “The officers seem to have lost faith in the government. When the protectors themselves feel insecure, how can citizens feel safe? Punjab is facing a grave crisis because of this administrative chaos,” he added.

He urged the Punjab government to immediately review its transfer policies, ensure stability in policing and restore confidence among citizens.
