PIL: Intervene to end exodus of migrants

New Delhi, March 28

As migrant workers walk back home from various cities amid the 21-day nationwide lockdown, a PIL has sought the Supreme Court’s intervention to alleviate their plight.

Filed by advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava on Friday, the PIL urged the court to intervene on the ground that despite sincere efforts of the Central and state governments, a large number of stranded workers were headed to their native villages on foot as they were unable to avail the benefits of government schemes. The PIL urged the court to direct DMs and police station in-charges to urgently identify such migrant workers. — TNS
