Artistes of the Little Thespian theatre group from Kolkata staged a play, Rengti Parchhiayan, on the fourth day of the Nutan International Theater Festival at the Virsa Vihar here on Friday.
The play, written by Uma Jhunjhunwala, is a story of widow Nadira, who remarries a blind man in the faint hope of giving her three daughters a better future. But, her life comes crashing down when it is revealed that her daughters have an illicit relationship with their step father.
With lust, incestuous relationships and female sexuality as underlying themes, the play takes a shocking turn in the end when Nadira kills her husband despite his insistence that he had sexual relationships with the girls only thinking that it was her.
The eight-day festival has brought stories from across different regions, focusing on subjects that are relevant and bold. Kewal Dhaliwal, who is the president of Virsa Vihar Society, was present on the occasion.
