Mohali, March 15

Two days after arresting both the suspects of Kulwinder Singh’s murder, the police have found out certain points after interrogating them. The suspects, Iqbal Singh and Sheetal Sharma are in four-day police custody.

The duo was involved in the murder of cop. The body of Kulwinder Singh, a senior assistant in the Intelligence Headquarters of the Punjab Police at Sector 77 here, was found on the road connecting Deri village with the airport chowk.

During the interrogation, it was discovered that Iqbal alone wanted to grab the money after murdering Kulwinder, who was a rich person. Iqbal also had taken Rs 10 lakh from him.

Hotel manager of KLG, Chandigarh, said that on that evening, Iqbal and Kulwinder were present at the hotel where they consumed liquor. Some sources also telling that few more persons were also present at the hotel with them.

According to the police, Iqbal also revealed that he went to Sheetal’s home after killing the cop. He also changed his clothes covered with blood stains at her house. Sheetal told police that she was not aware of Kulwinder’s murder plan. She said that when she asked about dirty clothes, Iqbal answered him that his clothes got stains from holi colours.

It was also learnt that the families of Sheetal and Kulwinder were aware of their relations. The partners of both of them were died. Kulwinder and Sheetal’s families also had good relations. But Kulwinder stopped talking to Sheetal when she started building close and physical relations with Iqbal.

The police said Iqbal was into purchasing a plot in Kharar with the help of Kulwinder. Investigating Officer Barma Singh said the police recovered the Ritz car used in the crime from Todar Mal Diwan Hall, Fatehgarh Sahib. Police also recovered the stone and brick used by Iqbal to kill Kulwinder. He said that Iqbal had thrown his blood-stained clothes in the Bhakhra canal near village Tarkhan Majra. After that Iqbal went to historical gurdwara of Fatehgarh Sahib to pay obeisance and to feel the sorry.

Bank officials under lens

The bank officials including the manager are also under suspicion of the police. As per the police, usual it takes around 2-3 days to transfer or withdraw the money from a cheque. But Iqbal withdrew Rs 20 lakh from a Dhuri bank branch within few minutes. Police is now doubtful that bank officials might involve in helping Iqbal. Secondly, a hawaldar of CID wing, who firstly fixed the meeting of suspects and the victim, is also under suspicion. — TNS
