For Gizele Thakral work is work, be it in Bollywood or Pollywood. That’s why the actress, who is in Chandigarh for a friend’s wedding, recently shot for a Punjabi song in Gippy Grewal’s upcoming movie. This Bigg Boss-fame actress has acted in Bollywood movies like Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 and Mastizaade. She believes, “Nothing is big or small as long as it’s work. And the Punjabi film industry is huge at this point of time, giving a tough competition to even Bollywood. Being a Punjabi myself, it was always my dream to be working in this industry.”

She adds, “I think Punjabi film and music are taking over everywhere. The market is huge, even during the lockdown period when shoots were stalled in Mumbai, Punjabi movies and songs were shot back-to-back, which is amazing. I would love to do Punjabi movies and songs in future as well.”

About singer Gippy Grewal, she has nothing but good words to say. “Gippy is a true gentleman. As a producer, he made sure I was provided with the best. A thorough professional as a co-star, I saw him multi-tasking with perfection. He was not just an actor or producer or singer but also took a keen interest in every technical aspect which is commendable. I am glad I did my first Punjabi song with a veteran like him, couldn’t have asked for a better co-star.”

As far as career is concerned, she calls it an ongoing journey, so far so good with no complaints. She adds, “It’s just that when you are not from the industry and a person like me who is an introvert, it is tough to establish contacts or socialise for work. I am kind of shy to approach people, but every day I am learning and growing. Touchwood, no bad experiences so far.”

Though born in Sri Ganganagar, she has grown up in Punjab. “I have so many memories and I have always missed the food, the culture and the space we have in Punjab. I am cent per cent Punjabi, she adds. During the pandemic forced home arrest, Gizele managed to stay positive. She adds, “I don’t get stressed easily so I was waiting patiently and enjoying some quality time with my family. Also, I adopted a puppy, so I was literally enjoying the quarantine time.”

Acting in a couple of more music videos currently, Gizele’s upcoming projects include a web series as well. Ask her favourite singers from Punjab, and she says, “Growing up I was a fan of Surjit Bindrakhia and Jazzy B. I would love to work with Diljit Dosanjh, Sidhu Moosewala, Karan Aujla and Gippy. They all are legends in their own way.”
