I am not a social butterfly, says Punjabi actress Amandeep Sidhu

Punjabi kudi Amandeep Sidhu was in Amritsar recently for the launch of her new show Teri Meri Ikk Jindri. She is all set to play Mahi in the show. Amandeep talks to us about the show, her career and her take on Mahi. Here’s what she has to say…

What prompted you to take up the show?

Earlier, I acted in supernatural shows but this show has a very different concept. I like to explore new characters and working on a love story will give me an opportunity to explore a new genre.

How is Teri Meri Jindri different from other love stories?

Teri Meri Ikk Jindri is not just a love story of two different people but how these two with different ideologies manage to find love.

Tell us about your character.

Mahi is a young middle-class Punjabi girl whose philosophy shauk ko vyavsai banao helps her start an all-women cab service for female passengers in Amritsar.

How easy or difficult it is to play a role like Mahi?

It is surely not easy playing a character like Mahi. She comes with her own set of challenges. She is bold yet family-oriented and wants to do something big in life.

What are your other interests?

Apart from acting, I take a keen interest in dancing. However, I have never received any professional training. I’d love to learn semi-classical dance.

Are you active on social media platforms?

I am not really much of a social butterfly. My social media usage depends on my mood.

Do you believe this show will be a milestone for your career?

It surely will! It’s really a big show and the character too is different. So, it is indeed a milestone of sorts. Additionally, I feel there is a lot to learn from my character Mahi.

What’s your plan for 2021?

In 2021, I am hoping the show Teri Meri Ikk Jindri achieves great success.

How is it sharing screen space with Adhvik Mahajan?

Adhvik and I have developed a friendly bond. He is a great actor and a great guy. Our on-screen chemistry has created quite a buzz, so we are hoping for our jodi to achieve great success.

What is the fitness regime you follow?

I do not have a specific fitness regime due to my busy schedule. But I always keep myself hydrated. Also, I like coconut water. Eating healthy and avoiding junk is my mantra. I do running, cycling and yoga.

Work wise, how was 2020 for you?

While work wise 2020 was not that great. But I did learn quite a few new things like patience, meditation, yoga and painting. In that sense, I’m grateful and I’d say the year went quite well.

How challenging has been your journey in the tinsel world?

My journey has been quite great, actually. I have evolved as an actor and as a human being. It is fun if you keep learning new things.

You have been part of TV shows, with viewers also moving to web series, how do you see it?

The audiences of OTT and television are very different. I believe television’s audience will never make the transition to web, at least not anytime soon. While I appreciate both the industries, I am partial to my TV audience who has showered immense love upon us over the years.

Why do you think Punjabis are popular all over?

Punjabis are very open-hearted and bebaak type.

Any upcoming projects for you?

Right now, my entire focus is on Teri Meri Ikk Jindri.
