Under the “War Against Gangsters” campaign, the Punjab Police have arrested 181 persons and seized two weapons, taking the total number of arrests to 9,442 since the drive began.

On the 27th day of the campaign, the police conducted 516 raids across the state and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters. Preventive action was taken against 67 persons, while 139 were verified and released after questioning. Seven proclaimed offenders were also arrested during the operation.

Meanwhile, the anti-drug drive “Yudh Nashian Virudh” continued for the 352nd consecutive day. On Monday, the police arrested 77 alleged drug smugglers and seized 2 kg heroin, 1,345 intoxicating tablets or capsules and Rs 69,120 in suspected drug money.

With these arrests, the total number of alleged drug smugglers held during the 352-day campaign has reached 49,841.

As part of de-addiction efforts, the police persuaded 16 persons to undergo rehabilitation treatment, a government spokesperson said.
