2 harvester owners fined Rs 2 lakh each

SANGRUR: Complying with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and state government directions, the Sangrur Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ghanshyam Thori, has imposed a penalty of Rs 2 lakh each on owners of two combine harvesters, which were operating without super straw management (SMS) system in Sangrur.

Complying with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and state government directions, the Sangrur Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ghanshyam Thori, has imposed a penalty of Rs 2 lakh each on owners of two combine harvesters, which were operating without super straw management (SMS) system in Sangrur.

The DC has also asked the police to impound both combines. Thori said, “To save environment from hazardous gases produced by stubble-burning, no combine harvester will be allowed to operate without Super Straw Management system.” — TNS
