2 held for recent grenade attack on Islamabad police station in Amritsar
Police also recover 1.4 kg of heroin, a Chinese hand grenade and two pistols
The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) has arrested two persons for allegedly carrying out a grenade attack at Islamabad police station in Amritsar, officials said on Saturday.
The attack was carried out in the early hours of December 17, though no one was injured in the incident.
“Gurjeet Singh from Dande in Amritsar and Baljit Singh from Chhapa in Tarn Taran have been arrested. The arrested persons carried out a grenade attack on Islamabad Police Station on December 17, 2024,” Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X.
The DGP added they were part of trans border narco-terror module being operated by controllers from abroad.
The police also recovered 1.4 kg of heroin, a Chinese hand grenade and two pistols from their possession.

“During investigations, the duo admitted to have lobbed the hand grenade at Islamabad police station located in the congested lane of Amritsar on December 17,” said a police official of SSOC.
