Faridkot, October 21

A manhunt has been launched for two inmates who reportedly escaped from police custody in Faridkot today.

They have been identified as Sazim (22) and Abdul Rehman (23), both residents of Bilhor village of Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. The escape took place around 7 pm when a police party was returning from Mukerian along with the inmates. The police party had taken the accused to Mukerian for their appearance in a criminal case.

The prisoners managed to escape when the police vehicle transporting them reached near the Central Jail, Faridkot, and fled into the nearby bushes. Both inmates are involved in criminal cases. While Sazim is facing eight cases, Abdul Rehman is allegedly involved in

seven. Further investigation is under way.
