2 of Bambiha gang held in Hanumangarh; 11 pistols, 22 magazines seized

The police in Hanumangarh have arrested two suspected criminals associated with Punjab's notorious Bambiha gang. As many as 11 pistols and 22 magazines were recovered from their possession. Preliminary investigation indicated that these weapons were intended for use in gang war in Punjab.

IGP, Bikaner Range, Om Prakash said the operation was carried out as part of a special drive led by Hanumangarh SP Harish Chander. The arrested accused were identified as Amandeep Singh, alias Captain, and Pavandeep Singh, aliases Billa and Sunny, both residents of Faridkot district.

Gang war foiled

The Bambiha gang is considered a major enemy of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Its members are frequently involved in arms smuggling, extortion, and gang wars

Intelligence reports indicated that a large consignment of illegal weapons was being transported by road from Indore (MP) to Punjab. Acting on the information, a team led by ASI Kishore Maan, in-charge of the Lakhuwali police outpost, set up a check post. During a search of the bus, two suspicious men got off the bus and ran towards the main canal embankment. The police team chased and apprehended them. Upon searching, 11 pistols and 22 magazines were recovered from their bags.

The IG said that during preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed that these weapons were to be used for gang war in Punjab. Their direct connection to the Bambiha gang has been revealed. The Police believe these weapons could have triggered major violence in Punjab, but timely action prevented this. A case has been registered against the accused under the Arms Act, and detailed investigations are underway.
